Becoming a mermaid

“There’s a lot of fish in the sea, but I’m a mermaid!”

My best friend and I are firm believers that every person has a spirit animal (we even convinced my Insta hubby that his spirit animal is a flamingo and he’s totally cool with that).

While she is the walking-talking version of a happy-go-lucky unicorn, I am a mermaid – no thigh gap, just thighs. #MERMAIDTHIGHS

Mermaid thighs are the body-positive trend that everybody is talking about… and so should you! Thigh gaps are so last season just like kale, oversharing your wedding photos and a Kanye West fashion show.

My biggest goal for 2017 is to pull off a full on “in-your-face bikini shoot” and just own my body for once in my life (the last time I wore just a bikini to the beach was in 2009).

One of my favourite curve models, Marciel Hopkins, told me in an interview that if you have a bikini and if you have a body – you have a bikini body.

To the year of body confidence no matter your shape and size. To all the fearless females who set some bad ass goals and then go out and demolish them. To all the moms who think they already passed their ‘expiry date’- go out there and be on fleek or whatever the cool crowd is calling it these days.

Always, Anne
